Aero-Tropics is the only air operator in the region able to offer the full range of air services to its customers and these currently are:

24 Hours a day / 7 Days a week / 365 Days a year

During business hours simply call our National STD toll free reservations number 1300 656 110 and speak to one of our experienced consultants.  Outside these hours or in an emergency speak to the On-Duty Manager on 0428 359 138.  Our Duty Managers are fully trained and experienced to help no matter what the situation.

Our main reservations office is in Cairns but we have offices at Horn Island Airport, Bamaga/ Injinoo Airport, and Karumba.    We are represented by agents at most other locations and communities throughout the region.  Monday to Friday 7am to 5:30pm.  Saturday 7am to 12:30pm, and Sundays & Most Public Holidays, Noon to 4pm.

Air Charter Services

With an Air Charter you as the Customer get to choose what day and at what time you want to travel.  You tell us your itinerary, how many passengers or what freight must travel plus any special requirements you may have.  Aero-Tropics experienced reservations consultants will work out a flight itinerary and quotation based on the most cost effective aircraft for your needs. With as little as 30 minutes notice your aircraft can be on its way to collect you from where you are and deliver you to wherever you have to be.

We have operations bases (aircraft and pilots) in Cairns, Horn Island and Karumba.   Depending on your requirements we can move any number of passengers with their luggage and/ or any amount of freight.  We are not limited to just these locations – we regularly fly to Papua New Guinea, the Northern Territory, Southern and Western Queensland and of course all airstrips and airports in between!

When you book an air charter with Aero-Tropics you will always get an aircraft maintained to airline standards and a pilot trained to airline standards.

Torres Strait

Aero-Tropics operates 28 scheduled flights each day Monday to Friday and 16 flights each Saturday within the Torres Strait region.  These flights allow for:

• Day trips between the main centre of Thursday Island and all 14 of the outer Torres Strait Island communities.
• Connections to and from Qantaslink Cairns / Horn Island services and
• Connections to and from Aero-Tropics own Cairns / Bamaga services.
• Connections to and from Peddell’s Ferry Service between Thursday Island and Seisia.
• Carriage of Australia Post and all other freight items between Thursday Island and the Outer Island communities.  (See Freight Service below)

Cairns - Bamaga (Injinoo)

Aero-Tropics currently operates 16 scheduled flights (8 north and 8 south) each week between Cairns and Bamaga.  These flights:

• Link residents of all five of the NPA communities of Injinoo, Umagico, Bamaga, New Mapoon and Seisia plus visitors to the region with Cairns. 
• Carriage of Australia Post and all other freight items between Cairns, the NPA and all Torres Strait Destinations. (See Freight Service below)

These flights depart from /arrive back at Aero-Tropics own terminal in Cairns situated on the Captain Cook Highway side of the airport at the northern end of Tom McDonald Drive.

Horn Island / Thursday Island transfers

Whether you are travelling between the Outer Islands and Thursday Island or between Cairns and Thursday Island contact our Reservations Office on 1300 656 110 to book Water Taxi or Ferry Transfers between Horn Island Airport and Thursday Island.

Freight Service

Aero-Tropics is the only airline to offer a complete airfreight service to and from all NPA and Torres Strait Destinations.  You will find our rates competitive and the service unbeatable.  Whatever the situation - Urgent parts, medications, samples for testing or a birthday gift. Simply deliver to our office in Cairns by 07:30hrs and by prior arrangement we will ensure that it is delivered to any address in the NPA by midday, any address on Thursday Island by 13:00hrs, and to any of the 14 Outer Island communities by 17:00hrs the same day.
